Badger
Badger are stout, tough Awakened with badger-like features and markings. They tend to be
independent and tenacious. Many badger live in underground burrows or small communities,
where they build extensive tunnel networks. Historically, badger culture split between those
who value a simple, independent life in the wild and those who embraced more structured,
communal living – but all badger share a reputation for stubbornness and resilience. They are
known for their short tempers if provoked, but also for their loyalty and hard work. Badger often
revere the spirits of the earth and soil; they believe an ancient badger guardian spirit taught
their ancestors how to dig and survive below ground. As such, they prefer to solve problems in a
practical, hands-on manner and are rarely intimidated by hardship.

Badger Traits. Your badger character has the following species traits:

Ability Score Increase. Your Constitution score increases by 2, and your Strength score
increases by 1.

Age. Badger grow up quickly, reaching maturity by age 12. They have an average life span of
around 70–80 years on average.

Alignment. Badger value independence and self-reliance. They are most often neutral, with
individuals spanning the spectrum from quietly helpful to gruffly selfish.

Size. Badger are short but very stocky, usually between 4 and 5 feet tall with broad builds.
Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 25 feet. You also have a burrowing speed of 15 feet,
allowing you to dig through soft earth or sand.

Darkvision. Accustomed to life underground, you have superior vision in dark and dim
conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in
darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern colours in darkness, only shades of
gray.

Poison Resilience. You have advantage on saving throws against being poisoned, and you
have resistance to poison damaged. (Badger are known to stomach even venomous prey
and toxic roots without ill effect.)

Keen Smell. You have advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on smell (your
badger-like nose is highly sensitive).

Natural Claws. You have strong digging claws. You can use your claws to make unarmed
strikes dealing slashing damage equal to 1d4 + your Strength modifier, instead of the
normal bludgeoning damage for an unarmed strike.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Beast Speech.
